GROUP CLASSES

KINDERGARTEN PUPPY CLASS: For pups from 8 to 16 weeks of age. Basic commands plus; housebreaking, chewing, greeting visitors, socialization, handling, working together, attention, grooming, building a bond and more.
4 one hour class $100

BASIC: For pups over 16 weeks and adult dogs who have never attended a basic class before. Obedience commands, sit, lie down, stay, loose leash walking, come, working together, attention, basic control, house manners and more
6 one hour class $150

AFTER BASIC Obedience Class: Prerequisite: successful completion of Basic class with Positive Puppy Dog Training. This class will polish up the basic commands through a variety of new and fun exercises. Lie Down on a dog bed when the doorbell rings, heeling with distractions, stay at a distance with distractions and Come when called - all the time, regardless of distractions and distance.

LOOSE LEASH WALKING Class: For dogs of any age. Teach your dog to walk politely without pulling on leash.
3 one hour class $75

CANINE GOOD CITIZEN Class: Prerequisite: successful completion of "After Basic" class with Positive Puppy Dog Training. In this class we teach all the exercises necessary to successfully complete the AKC Canine Good Citizen test. The "CGC" class includes 5 weeks of instruction and training and the 6th week will consist of the official AKC Canine Good Citizen test. All dogs successfully completing the test will receive an official, certificate from the AKC. Mixed breed and pure bred dogs are welcome.

INTERMEDIATE: For dogs who have successfully completed "After Basic" class or private instruction equivalent with Positive Puppy Dog Training. Obeying commands when at a distance, hand signals, stand still for grooming and handling, off leash work, and more.

FUN 'N GAMES Class: Prerequisite: successful completion of "After Basic" class (with Positive Puppy Dog Training. This class uses games and tricks to teach valuable exercises. Teach your dog to ride a skate board, tic tac toe stays, musical chairs, square dance heeling, roll over, take a bow, say your prayers, drop on a spot, red light/green light and more.

THERAPY DOG Class: Prerequisite: successful completion of "After Basic" class with Positive Puppy Dog Training. This 6-week course is geared to help you and your dog get ready to visit people in nursing homes, hospitals and other facilities, who are unable to have pets. It will prepare you to take the Delta Society Pet Partners evaluation.

GROUP CLASS POLICIES

• Refunds will not be made after the first class.

• Dogs who are aggressive or obsessive barkers may be asked to participate in private lessons or classes specific to that need. We want everyone to get the most out of their experience at Positive Puppy Dog Training. Some dogs will be better able to learn in a private situation.

• Because young dogs in the beginning stages of their training need a consistent adult figure we limit our classes to children over 14 years of age and adults. If you’d like your child to be included in the dog’s training, please schedule a private session.

• One adult should handle the dog during class. Friends, spouses and other adult family members may quietly sit in the audience and observe so that they will be familiar with the training program and will be better able to practice at home with your dog.

• Dogs not registered for class will not be permitted in the building.

• Get to class a few minutes early to give the dog ample opportunity to relieve himself outdoors. Clean up after your dog when he relieves himself outdoors.

• Wear sneakers or other sturdy shoes, no flip flops, sandals, or clogs. This is to prevent falling.

• Bring a 4 foot leash, no retractable leashes permitted.

• Bring 3 bags of different types of treats. Something that the dog will love; sliced hot dogs, cubes of cheese, squeeze tube of peanut butter, freeze dried liver treats, jerky treats, etc. We have treats available for sale as well.

• We use positive reward based training methods. Please bring several types of his favorite treats to class each week.

• Please inform us if it is necessary for you to miss a class. A private appointment (at applicable rates) can be scheduled to make up the missed class if you wish. There will be no make up group classes provided.

• To be successful while training your dog you must put time into training your dog at home. This includes making time to take the dog out to new environments to practice and socialize. There is no “magic pill” in dog training.

• Private instruction is available if you feel you need help on issues not covered in group class. If we see that you are in need of extra help we may recommend that you schedule a private appointment either in addition to or in place of the group class.
